The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) was established in accordance with the order of NTUU «KPI» №1-61 of May 13, 2004.

In its activities the Department of Biomedical Engineering is guided by the Constitution of Ukraine, laws and other regulations of Ukraine, the Charter of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Rules internal regulations of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Regulations on the Department Biomedical Engineering.

The training bases of the department are the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery M. Amosov of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Electric Welding E. Paton of NAS Ukraine, Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of NAS Ukraine, Institute of Problems of Materials Science. І.Frantsevych of NAS Ukraine, Research and Training center of cardiovascular engineering Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, modern laboratories and production facilities.

The Graduates of the Department of Biomedical Engineering can work as engineers, heads of engineering services, researchers and consultants in the Commercial Medical and Pharmaceutical Organizations, participate in scientific and technical programs for the introduction of new engineering technologies in health care.
